Captain Guadalupe Lujan Medical Service Corps, U.S. Army

 Captain Guadalupe Lujan is an active-duty U.S. Army Officer with over eight years of federal service completed. She is currently stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas where she serves as the senior Public Health Advisor within the 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB). Captain Lujan holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Geography from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Upon graduation from West Point, she received her commission as a Medical Service Corps Officer specializing in operational public health and preventive medicine. Her professional military education includes the Army Medical Department Basic Officer Leader Course and the Army Medical Center of Excellence Captain’s Career Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

She has served in a variety of tactical and operational assignments including Medical Company Platoon Leader, Brigade Environmental Science Officer, and Medical Detachment Executive Officer while stationed at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. While stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, she served as a Medical Battalion Plans Officer. During her tenure at Fort Cavazos, Texas, she served as a Logistics Battalion Operations Advisor (S3) before assuming the role of senior Public Health Advisor. Captain Lujan has completed two Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) missions and two overseas deployments in support of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve.

Captain Lujan’s professional interests include global health engagement to enhance interoperability with partner nations and foster security for women and children in destabilized regions. The public health area of concentration has enabled her to make an impact in contingency operations planning, working shoulder to shoulder with joint, coalition, non-governmental and interagency partners to improve partner nation medical capability and capacity. Her training includes environmental health/medical threat analysis, health risk communication, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) education
